    Publishing Your Book...

We are a full service publishing company - When we publish your book, we can design the book including the cover, edit the book, copyright the book, market your book, and we can distribute it through book stores and book dealers (our book dealer is Ingram Books, the largest book dealer in the world). We can also help you find an agent or PR specialist to help you market yourself and your books. We find the right people to help you make your work successful.

                We publish every kind of book there is; no matter what the genre may be. If it can be put into print then we will publish it. We welcome any writer throughout the world to submit their work for the consideration of publishing it. We choose a certain number of projects to publish throughout the given year. Not everything submitted to us will be selected by us to publish, but those writers that are not selected by Starving Writers Publishing still have the option of using all of our services for publication or to help make your work better so it will be something that we will publish. Any writer that uses the option to purchase our services to help make their work better has access to all of services such as book design, editing, copyright, marketing, and full distribution. We also have our Partners Program for authors who are not selected to be published – authors still have the same opportunity as an author who is selected and can still receive the same full services.      Our criteria for choosing to publish your work is not as strict as other publishing companies because we still believe that everybody should have an opportunity to put their written work out into the world. All that we require is your story to be well written and, something that can be marketed even if it is not on a world wide scale (we are still a business and have to look at what can sell and will be read by the world). We ask that your work is not illegal, and that your work is not pornographic. For more information on submitting a manuscript see manuscripts to find our requirements  If your work does not fit this criteria then you still have other options with such as using our services to help make your work better so it will be something that  we might like to publish. This doesn't mean that every author who chooses to use our services will have their book published by Starving Writers Publishing unless they join our Partners Program. We still have the right to reject anything submitted to us even if you paid for services such as book design, editing or rewrites, or marketing. There are some things that we will not publish, but we will always be honest with you before you use our other options.

     If we do not choose to publish your work we will always to tell you why and give some professional suggestions on what might make your work better so it can be reconsidered for publishing without having to pay any kind of fee for the critical analysis.  As professionals we give you professional suggestions on what might make your work better absolutely free of charge. This is the least we can do to help you as an author and we don't think you should be charged for it. Starving Writers Publishing is dedicated to helping authors become better in their craft and to make their work better so it will be published by a traditional publishing company. 

    When you do publish through Starving Writers Publishing here is the process. Once you sign a contract whether its for traditional publishing or you become part of the partners program there is a time frame we have from the beginning to release of your published book. Here is the time frame for the different types of books that we publish. The time reflects all the time that it takes from beginning to end for the production of a book - this is if the book has not been worked on at all and all we have is the manuscript and for children's books, if illustrations are still being worked on. Also keep in mind it also depends on the workload of our firm. 

   These are the stages of production of a book once a contract has been signed. Editing and Design will take the longest while printing and distribution takes anywhere from 6 to 4 weeks before the release date of the book.

What we do when publishing your book.

·             We provide a copy one copy of the book for you , You can also purchase copies of the book for 40% off the retail price.

·          We will assign you or help up find a Client Service Agent to be your PR specialist and represent you when it comes to your published book. You can also find one on your own if you feel more comfortable, but your Client Service Agent is the person that helps you sell and market you book with our help and negotiate contracts on your behalf when in regards to your published book.

·          Our professionals edit your book for you before printing (we still expect the writer to edit the book at least a little before submitting the book to be published or we will have to do a complete re-write and charge a re-write fee). Please reference our section on editing with Starving Writers Publishing.

·          A Full-Color High Resolution Cover design (front, back, and Spine), the logo is yours to keep if you do not want to be published by Starving Writers Publishing anymore; if you want to design a picture yourself for the cover of your book that is okay and we encourage that. If you do that you need to make sure that the picture is in JPEG format on a computer and you can send it to us by email.

·          We will market and advertise it, through our marketing services for stores and book dealers. The print companies we use and our book dealer do a lot of marketing to increase the sales of book that are listed with them and part of the marketing we do is through them  (please note: marketing you book will not just be up to us, we expect our published authors to help try and sell their own book through different resources). There is only so much that we can do, but as the writer you can help sell you book to people through "word of mouth" advertising to other online resources. We believe working together in selling your book since we publish in small runs and print on demand. All marketing through this publishing company is done through Truesource Marketing, another division of Truesource Media.

·          We will sell it and distribute your book through any store and book dealer that is in the world (Barnes and Nobles, Books a Million , Borders, Amazon.com.).  We will also sell it through any Online Stores or book dealers that is associated with Starving Writers Publishing

·          We will make a digital hard copy and proof of your book for any print company and publisher to use, and this is yours to keep. There is your set-up and proof fee which is required by any print company. This digital hard copy and proof of your book is cataloged at the print companies we use so if you would like to order books they will always have it.

·          You work will published online so you can sell ebooks and people can read your work. Our encryption service will be done automatically since you are publishing a book with us.

·          We will help with sponsoring book signings and any promotion the writer wants to be part of.

·          You book will be copyrighted through Starving Writers Publishing with the U.S. copyright office (the fee for doing this is included in your publishing fee) and listed in the Library of Congress.

      Editing...

       We want to be very specific on the editing process at Starving Writers Publishing.  Editing goes through a three phase process- which means there will be three people editing the book. We want different people going through it so we catch all the mistakes. No when we edit, the editing we do is only fixing grammatical errors. We do not do revisions or rewrite your book. Before a manuscript is sent to us we expect the writer to be done with all their revisions on how they want their story to be while editing it to the point that they are ready for the manuscript to be read by a publisher. Now of course of when we publish your material we will go back through and fix the grammatical errors, but we will not change anything else. We do not want to take away from the artistic process of the writer when it comes to revisions and rewrites.   When we first preview your manuscript and give you our initial report on it then we will tell you if you need to revise anything or do any kind of rewrite. Also we will tell you if the editing we will have to do with your manuscript will be considered a revision or rewrite. Revisions and Rewrites go way beyond just fixing basic grammatical errors and thus requires more work. If it is a case such as this then we will have to charge you editing fees or rewrite fees. We do not necessarily want to do this if the rewrites or revisions can be done by the writer thus keeping with the artistic process of the writer. However we will offer suggestions on revisions and rewrites for you to consider and in our initial report of you manuscript that was sent to you we will certainly let you know if you will have to do more revisions or rewrites. You will have the option of doing this yourself or be charged for our professional service in editing or rewrites. Our report will also reflect what you will have to do for us to be published and what you will be charged for this kind of service if you choose to go through us.       Design...

     We design every aspect of your book from the interior to the cover.  We design the interior layout from the size of the book to number of pages it will be and the size of the words.  We also design  the illustrations for a book if it requires them.      Printing...

       Our Printing is the best quality that you can find in the United States and we do believe in using  cheap paper like mass market paper backs. We use different companies for our printing such as Lightning Source, Booksurege and Café Press. We do our printing in “print on demand” when it comes to our books. Now “print on demand” has always a bad reputation in the publishing industry because it always been linked to self publishing and vanity presses. PRINT ON DEMAND is not bad as long as it’s done by professional companies and we use the best in America – Lightning Source. We do not do our publishing as a “print on demand” company, when we do our printing that way because it’s a good  economical business decision where we do not have to lose money and bad business decisions will not affect our authors.  Lightning Source is actually a division of Ingram Books. We print in black and white and color. We print paperbacks and hardbacks (case bound  and with a dust jacket). W also have some of our booked printed through Imagine Print and Publish, which is an Academic Press. For those that do not want to be published solely through Starving Writers Publishing you can have your book published through our partner Imagine Print and Publish. You title will be listed as a Starving Writers/ Imagine Print title. Here are some of the specifications on our printing .

·         Covers are printed in full color 100lb glossy stock  paper for paperback.

·         Wire-O are printed on 50lb. - 60lb. opaque white paper

·         Wire-O book covers are printed on 10 pt glossy cover stock

·         Perfect bound books are printed on 50lb.-60lb. opaque cream paper and white paper.

·         Perfect bound covers are printed on 10pt stock and are laminated

·         Hardback are printed in Casebound (cardboard hardback) and Cloth with dust jacket

·         Hardback Casebound cover is printed in Casebound laminated.

·         Saddle-stitch books are printed on 50lb opaque white paper.

·         Saddle-stitch covers are printed on 100lb glossy book weight stock.

·         Color pages are 80lb. digital white paper stock-We currently only do Paperback.

   Marketing...

The Marketing of our books is a 10 point marketing phase consisting of marketing from the publisher and author promotion. We work with authors to help market their products and their career as an author. We do all kinds of marketing from press releases, advertising, reviews, and author appearances We use every aspect of the internet to get out information about our products as well as major media outlets.   Distribution...

      We distribute books through our print company Lightning Source since it’s a division of Ingram Books and part of the process through their company is distribution after the books have been published and printed. All books through Starving Writers Publishing have a standard 55% discount off the retail price- this is the regular standard discount for a book and anything less is unacceptable for book dealers and book stores. We make sure we have the standard when it comes to discounts and everything is correct so our distribution is never low or affected in anyway. This can only be done with a proper discount.
